Today we're chatting with the gorgeous Stacey, the hard working inspirational lady behind Make Up by Stacey! We finally got to meet Stacey at our Uncon wedding show in the Drygate in February where we all had such an amazing day. Alongside meeting and chatting to our guests, Stacey also created the bridal make up looks from our model shoots on the day. One super cool boho look and a stunning modern vintage style. We cannot wait to collab with Stacey again soon!
Tell us a bit about you, the person behind the brand?
Hi, my name is Stacey aka Makeup by Stacey in the industry. I’m 23 years old, a lot of people are surprised when I tell them my age as they never expect someone so young to have over 5 years makeup experience.
I absolutely LOVE the Disney character Stitch, I legit have everything you can imagine that’s Stitch related from phone cases, cuddly toys to mugs. It’s an obsession I have had from a young age. If it has Stitch on it, I will definitely be buying it.
How did your vision/passion begin?
I have always been into makeup & beauty growing up as a teen. I have 3 sisters so I was always getting asked to do their makeup for parties. Then eventually I was doing other family members & friends' makeup for special occasions. I applied for the Makeup Artistry course at West College Scotland in 2016 & graduated with my Higher Diploma in 2019. I have now worked at over 70 weddings, alongside other freelance work. I opened my own makeup studio this year which has been a dream of mine since I started my career.
What’s your favourite part of doing what you do?
I love being part of a bride's big day. The fact they chose you to be part of their wedding. I enjoy every minute of it. From the engagement shoot/party, makeup trials, hen night makeup all the way to the wedding day. I have also got to see my beautiful brides have babies. Such a precious moment & I am so happy I get to experience these milestones with my clients on a regular basis.
What one piece of advice would you give to couples?
Handwritten letters to give each other on the morning of your wedding day, so you can both read them while getting ready before you both tie the knot. This is
definitely a MUST for couples, a sentimental keepsake for the future.
What attracted you to our alternative wedding fair?
I personally love a unique wedding. It’s always good to be different. I love the typical traditional wedding but who doesn’t love a bit of quirkiest to their wedding day. I love a bold lip colour or a funky statement eye look which you definitely see working at an alternative style wedding.
Who is your biggest icon, and why?
My biggest icon I would say would be Mario Dedivanovic aka Makeup by Mario (Kim Kardashian’s MUA). He is amazing at what he does. He is a successful celebrity makeup artist & has his own makeup brand. This what I aspire to be in the future. Who wouldn’t love to be hanging about with celebrities at fancy events?
What’s for dinner?
I am having chicken fajitas for dinner.
