Humanist ceremonies are as individual as you are. They can be as traditional (or not) as you like. They can include your pals, your dog, your favourite book. Your celebrant will work with you to craft a unique and memorable celebration that reflects your personalities and the life you’ve built together.

About Humanist Society Scotland

Humanist Society Scotland is the largest and longest-standing provider of humanist ceremonies in Scotland with over 130 celebrants conducting humanist weddings and civil partnerships up and down the country.

Only Humanist Society Scotland registered celebrants are permanently authorised to conduct humanist weddings in Scotland and all ceremonies are covered by the HSS Promise.  This guarantees that if an emergency befalls your Celebrant, another will be provided, and your big day can go ahead as planned.

Please meet two of our local celebrants Ronit Quayle and Catherine Simpson.

Ronit lives in South Lanarkshire. It's where she spends her days looking after her wee boy, writing ceremonies, gardening and drinking cups of tea.

Her approach to ceremonies is that if she has made you, and everyone else there, both laugh and cry then she’s done her job right. Whether your wedding is a big knees-up or a quiet elopement, we will incorporate the traditions that feel right for you. A Humanist wedding ceremony is very much a team effort - from the readings you choose, the symbolic gestures you include (like handfasting or a band warming) and the vows you make, she will be by your side to keep you right (and keep you sane) as we plan your special day. At every wedding she conducts, she hopes that the guests will say afterwards “that ceremony was so them, it couldn’t have been anyone else’s wedding".

Catherine lives in Stirling and works across the central belt, Perthshire and beyond. She has a calm and creative approach to ceremonies.  She will take the time to get to know what makes you tick as a couple, teasing out the tales and sharing the symbolic gestures and readings which will help create a unique celebration of your love and commitment.  Having been brought up in the country, Catherine will happily get her boots on to carry out ceremonies in the great outdoors while also appreciating dry, warm indoor venues! When not conducting ceremonies, she enjoys walking her whippet, tuned in to an audiobook, seeking her next flat white.
