Wedding band Ernest are one of the hottest wedding bands in Scotland and have been playing to crowds across Scotland for over 20 years! Their live performances are legendary with a host of UK celebrities complimenting their energetic set.
We are super excited to have the alternative Scottish Wedding Band as part of our Directory and performing at the next Unconvention. We caught up with the band to find out about their icons and how it all began:
Tell us a bit about you, and the band members?
Myself, Will (Vocals, Guitar, Piano), Alan (bass) and Douglas (drums) have been playing together for over 20 years. We have played every gig and venue imaginable from the oldest pub in Glasgow (Scotia Bar) to the famous Barrowland Ballroom and everything in between.
How did it all begin?
I met Douglas when we were 15 yrs old and started our first band. Our third gig was T in The Park! Alan joined us soon after and we have since played over 2500 gigs together.
What’s your favourite part of doing what you do?
We love playing music and performing. Getting to play to a fresh crowd every night is thrilling. We never have a set-list so we always gauge the audience on the night, so we never know what we will end up playing!
Who is your biggest icons in music, and why?!
Me, Elvis. Alan, Def Leppard. Douglas, Rachmaninov. All three are extravagant musicians.
What one piece of advice would you give to couples looking to book their wedding band?
Make sure you go and see the band play live. It is very easy to make a swish 5min promo video but they need to be able to play for hours at your wedding and cater for all your guests.

What attracted you to featuring on the the Wedding Unconvention directory?
We don't consider ourselves to be a standard 'wedding band' and this seemed like the perfect platform to showcase to couples looking for an alternative band option.
What’s for dinner?
The buffet!
Oh we're a little jealous! I wonder if it'll a Scottish breakfast buffet with square sausage or a curry!
