Colorful hair, aliens, and ghosts? We're already sold on the supplier under tonight's spotlight, Emma Donaldson Photography!
We caught up with Emma to find our how her passion for alternative wedding photography began, and to find out more about the awesome person behind the brand.
Tell us a bit about you, the person behind the lens?
Helllooo! I'm Emma, a Scottish wedding photographer, living in Glasgow with my lovely husband Murray. I'm totally into chilled out vibes, nature, animals, ceilidh's, arts + crafts and having deep + meaningful chats about life, aliens + ghosts! I grew up in Ayrshire, spending my time there running about the woods. I've had every hair colour and have finally settled on either pink or purple. I loooove metal and heavy techno music. I'm an introverted/extrovert, if there is such a thing.
How did your vision/passion begin?
I started off as a family and newborn photographer + shot my first wedding in 2017. I studied here and there in fine art, graphic design and then photography, woo!
What’s your favourite part of doing what you do?
The best bit about my job is getting to know my couples and their family. Relationships and connection are super important to me, it makes my wee heart happy when I see how people just come together for weddings.
What one piece of advice would you give to couples?
My one piece of advice for couples is to really just do things your way, let your personalities + interests shine through + don't be afraid to have the wedding that you truly want. Your friends + family will love it in the end + remember your day more with all the extra personal touches.
What attracted you to our alternative wedding fair/directory?
Scotland has needed an alternative wedding scene so badly! I loved the concept + it's exciting to be a part of it.
Who is your biggest icon, and why?
My biggest icon is an easy one, I'm not into celebrities or famous people, so it has to be my number 1 fan, my husband! Ha! He knows the real me, doesn't take any nonsense but supports me fully in everything I do.
What’s for dinner?
Dinner tonight was lentils with feta cheese, tomatoes and spinach. I'm going through a healthy phase, sometimes I'll just eat pringles + have a beer.
