In this week’s blog we’re exploring some of our favorite quirky wedding venues in Scotland. Our search was focused on finding intimate wedding venues, and beautiful settings for elopement-style ceremonies.
Here’s our top five finds this week, in no particular order as we're obsessed with them all.
First up we have the beautiful Bothy.

Described as a ‘quintessential Scottish bolthole’, The Bothy is a well-established culinary institution tucked away in the West End of Glasgow. Through the cobbles of Ruthven Lane, you’ll find The Bothy situated, and it quite simply melted our hearts. It’s the perfectly quaint setting for an intimate gathering with your closest friends and family. This stunning venue is situated just minutes on foot from many local churches, chapels and local beauty spots, including the wonderful Glasgow University and the picturesque Botanic Gardens. It’s also just a short car (or subway!) ride from the local registry offices. We absolutely adore this venue and can’t wait to visit again.

The Woodside Lodge on Loch Goil

Private pavillion on a pebbled shore? Yes please! With breathtaking scenes across Loch Goil, we couldn’t think of a more stunning setting to host an intimate wedding. The loch front leads to a beautiful country hotel and lodge, which provides cozy accommodation for an intimate gathering. We adore the scenic vibes here, and instantly feel mesmerized by the roaring, beautiful Scottish landscape surrounding the venue.

House for an Art Lover

Set within the magnificent grounds of Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park and inspired by the designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, House for an Art Lover combines art gallery and exhibition space, wedding venue, café, multipurpose artists studios and magnificent visitor attraction into one unique and inspiring setting.
Originally designed by Mackintosh as an elegant country retreat for a person of taste and culture, today, more than 110 years later, House for an Art Lover exists to stimulate public interest in art, design and architecture – and presents the most stunning backdrop for a truly unique wedding. We are in adoration of this wedding venue, and forever inspired by its history.

Say ‘I do’ in one of the most fairytale-like settings in Scotland. The Hermitage near Dunkeld, Perthshire provides an enchanted forest backdrop for an elopement wedding. With babbling brooks and waterfalls, and boasting some of the tallest trees in Perthshire, The Hermitage really is the most magical setting for any ceremony. Did we mention it’s managed by a beautiful soul called Becky, who you may also know as Holeyn Wedding Photography? The Hermitage is an incredibly special place that we simply adore.

All the ceremonies of the North

We are forever captivated by Monika Strell from All The Ceremonies. For anyone looking for an intimate wedding surrounded by nature, Monika is your guide. We adore the idea of running away to the highlands with our loved one, stumbling across an intimate beach, and saying our vows. Our hearts are full of joy with the whimsical free-ness of this type of wedding – an escape from the overcrowding pressures of the traditional wedding, with one focus in mind – each other.
